Hooves of horses grow constantly. Overgrown hooves can result
in serious health issues for horses. If a horse has to walk with
hooves that are overgrown they must compensate for this, that
means they are walking on their feet. This strains the tendons
and could result in lameness.
The hoof’s wall can be cut with Nippers. This will start to
eliminate the length that is left on the hoof that is overgrown.
Make sure the nipper blades are in line with the hoof’s bottom.
When you are beginning to cut begin on one end of the foot,
starting at the heel, and then trim the wall from the heel to the
toe.
